From Dr. Lynne O'Sullivan - The good news is I don't think any of what they (Alba) are calling VPCs or V-tach are VPCs or V-tach, for a number of good reasons that I am happy to explain. The beats they are calling VPCs are clearly wide and different looking, but they all have associated atrial activity that precedes them no matter what the rate. I believe this represents something called ventricular pre excitation as a result of an extra connection between her atria and ventricles called an accessory pathway. Again I am happy to explain this in more detail by phone or in person (drawings will help!). At this point, it represents an incidental finding. It can be associated with supraventricular tachyarrhythmias, but there was no evidence of this on her Holter yet. It does not predispose to ventricular arrhythmias or sudden death, and has nothing to do with DCM
