Comments
Doberman owned by a veterinary specialist. Annual echocardiograms and holters performed regularly. Week after 2020 AKC nationals, she was acutely lame with neck pain. Repeat echo/holter confirmed advanced DCM (note the rapid onset/progression of this disease despite annual testing!) Dog then underwent repeat echocardiograms and holter monitors every 3 months. Treated with Pimobendin, Spironolactone, Benazapril, and as disease progressed, mexilitine and lasix were added. Owner is a specialist working in a multi-specialty hospital. Dog had medical insurance and received state of the art medical care throughout her life.
